MEETING POINT:

Meeting point: 15 min before the departure time in Calle larga de l’Ascension - 30124 San Marco next to the post office. Look for the yellow sign "Meeting point" on the wooden kiosk.

Leaving the Saint Mark's square behind you, it's the one on your right (not the newspaper shop on the left).

- Arriving by boat (Vaporetto): Arriving close to the Saint Marks Square get off the boat ACTV (Vaporetto) No:1 or No:2 at the San Marco (Vallaresso) boat stop and walk directly down the street “Calle Vallaresso” passing Harrys bar on your right and the Hotel Monaco and Grand canal on your left. When you arrive at the end of the street turn right and walk towards Saint Marks square, before you pass under the arches turn left and you will find the post office and the wooden kiosk on your left in few meters.The wooden kiosk is the one next to the post office.

- Arriving by foot: Make you way into Saint Marks square, at the opposite side of the Saint Mark’s Basilica you will see the Correr Museum. Pass under the arches of it and you will find immediately the post office and the wooden kiosk. The wooden kiosk is the one next to the post office.

• Children are free until 5 years, from 6 they pay the full ticket (document required).

Description

The tour starts with a historical introduction of St. Marks’s Square, and its architectural delights, allowing you to discover the history of the majestic St. Mark’s Basilica, the illustrious Doge’s Palace, once the seat of the power of the Republic of Venice, and the extraordinary, renaissance clock tower.

Leaving the square, you will be guided into the residential Castello area, allowing you to discover this part of Venice in all of its elegance, through its labyrinth of narrow alleys - “calli”, many bridges, winding canals and wide picturesque squares - “campi”.

Discover campo Santa Maria Formosa and campo San Giovanni & Paolo with its Basilica the place where the doges of Venice were buried.
The former residence of Marco Polo, probably the most famous Venetian merchant, and the Malibran theatre are also part of the itinerary.
Throughout the tour, our local guide will provide you with historical facts, point out architectural places of interest, and share fascinating anecdotes on how Venice has developed over the ages, and how Venetians live today.

At the end of your walking tour, come back with your local guide in Saint Mark's square passing through the Mercerie, the shopping connection street between Rialto and San Marco.
